Dia Mirza Biography

Dia Mirza Sangha (born Dia Handrich on 9 December 1981) is an Indian model, actress and producer, who won the Miss Asia Pacific 2000 title. Mirza has primarily worked in Bollywood and is known in media for her social work. She co-owns a production house Born Free Entertainment with Sahil Sangha.




Their first film, Love Breakups Zindagi, made under the banner was released on 7 October 2011.She attended Stanley Junior College and acquired graduation in Bachelors of Arts from Andhra Pradesh Open University, Hyderabad. She was encouraged to participate in the 2000 Femina Miss India Beauty Pageant and was the second runner-up, for which she won three titles, Femina Miss India-Pacific, Sony Viewer's Choice Award, and Miss Beautiful Smile.



Sahil Sangha began assisting Nikhil Advani in the movie ‘Salaam-e-Ishq’. This movie had big legends from bollywood and Priyanka Chopra and Vidya Balan also acted in the movie. He then worked along Sunil Manchanda of the MAD films on different ad films.




 Dia Mirza Sahil Sangha and Zayed Khan started a production house with name- “Born Free Entertainment Pvt. Ltd.”. They produced the movie ‘Love Breakups Zindagi’ and Sahil Sangha was producer director and writer for this movie. After it, Zayed Khan withdrew from the production house. 



Now, Sahil Sangha and Dia Mirza is the owner of this production house. They then produced ‘Bobby Jasoos’ in July, 2014.There are quite a few actresses who failed to make it big in the Bollywood industry even with their good looks and acting skills. Dia Mirza is certainly one of those actresses who remained ignored for the most of the time during her stint in Bollywood industry. And that is why she thought it was better to venture in the business of production. 



She has opened a production house with her boyfriend Sahil Sangha and her good friend actor Zayed Khan. The name of this production house is Born Free Entertainment.Dia Mirza was born to Frank Handrich, a German interior designer, artist and architect who hailed from Munich and Deepa, a Bengali Hindu woman who is also an interior designer. 



When Dia Mirza was 6 years old, her mother separated from her father and then when she was nine her father died. Later her mother married Ahmed Mirza. Dia Mirza used the surname of her stepfather for a long time. Ahmed Mirza died in the year 2004. Currently she also adopted the surname of her biological father and therefore she is now known as Dia Mirza Handrich.



Sahil Sangha is also a screenplay writer and also writes story. He had even worked as assistant director. He belongs to a Sikh family. Sahil Sangha full name is Sahil Singh Sangha. Sahil Sangha height is 6 feet. Sahil Sangha loves to listen to Hindi songs. He had worked as a salesman. He had even won the employee of the year Award at Banana Republic. 



SHe had even worked as a waiter in Mexican restaurant. He also loves cooking. He is baseball fan too.Dia Mirza made her Bollywood debut with the film Rehna Hai Tere Dil Mein opposite South Indian actor R. Madhavan. Although this film was not a box office success the songs composed by Harris Jayaraj were immensely popular among the music lovers. 



The name of this film is abbreviated as RHTDM. This is perhaps the only time where a Bollywood movie was unsuccessful at the time of the release but over the years gradually developing a cult following among the Indian youngsters.Dia Mirza has worked with the government of Andhra Pradesh to spread HIV awareness and to prevent the female foeticide.




 She has been actively involved with the Spastics Society of India, the Cancer Patients Aid Association, PETA and CRY. She has been roped in by the Coca Cola Foundation that works for the development of the rural India. As a member of PETA and an animal lover she has adopted two cheetah cubs at a zoo in Lucknow that is known as the Prince of Wales Zoological Park.



Dia Mirza has now turned into a director and has recently made her debut with a public service film on tiger conservation called #KidsForTigers. Written by Cara Tejpal and Sahil Sangha, captured by photographer Rohan Shrestha, the film aims to spread the important message of tiger and nature conservation through the innocent voices of children belonging to different age groups.When living in Khairatabad, Hyderabad city, she attended Vidyaranya High School for Boys and Girls, a school partly based on the teachings of Jiddu Krishnamurti, and later Nasr School, in Khairtabad. 




She attended Stanley Junior College and completed her graduation in Bachelor of Arts from Ambedkar Open University, Hyderabad.Dia Mirza was born to Frank Handrich, who was a German graphic and industrial fair designer and architect from Munich. Her mother, Deepa is a Bengali Hindu, who is an interior designer, landscaper. She is currently doing social work as a volunteer to help alcoholics and addicts. 




Dia's parents were separated when she was six years old and lost her father when she was nine. Later her mother married Ahmed Mirza, who died in 2004. She adopted her stepfather's surname Mirza and then adopted the last name of her birth-father and became Dia Mirza Handrich.Unable to get major box office hits in recent times, she has quickly turned her eyes from acting and is planning to focus more on producing the Bollywood films instead. 




The film Love Breakups Zindagi that has been produced under the banner of Born Free Entertainment was the first film that was released by Dia Mirza’s production house. The film Love Breakups Zindagi was released on 7 October 2011.Following her Bollywood debut, Dia Mirza went on to act in a number of Bollywood films. 



These include Deewanapan, Tumko Na Bhool Payenge, Tehzeeb, Pran Jaye Par Shaan Na Jaye, Dum, Tumsa Nahin Dekha, Parineeta, Dus, Fight Club, Lage Raho Munna Bhai, Honeymoon Travels Pvt. Ltd., Shootout at Lokhandwala, Cash, Heyy Babyy, Dus Kahaniyaan, Krazzy 4, Acid Factory, Kurbaan and Luck By Chance.
